Third ASEAN cuisine and cultural festival in Kiev
The capital of Kiev (Ukraine) hosted the third ASEAN cuisine and cultural festival on October 18th.
This is a large annual, cultural event held at the initiative of the embassies of Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia and responded to by the diplomatic missions of many other countries including the Ukraine, India, Iran, Iraq, Japan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and all with the enthusiastic support of the Kiev City Council.
The festival aimed to introduce national cultural features and the rich and unique cuisine of Asian countries to the people of Ukraine and international friends, thereby contributing to strengthening and developing the close relationships in the field of culture among Asian countries joining the festival with Ukraine in general and with Kiev capital in particular.
During the festival, Ambassadors of Asian countries introduced their unique cultural features, and expressed the desire to enhance mutual understanding between the people in Asia and Ukraine.
Through dances, songs, cuisine, arts and films about the land and people, a display of handicraft and souvenirs, the festival enhanced the feelings of goodwill about the unique cultures of Asian countries.
Vietnam’s booth introduced unique national costumes of Vietnamese people such as the Ao dai, circular headgear for male, flat palm hat with fringes and handicrafts. Unique dishes from Vietnam such as fried meat spring rolls (nem), shrimp-chips and Trung Nguyen coffee attracted a particularly large number of diners. Visitors also enjoyed art performances such as the traditional long dress performance and 16-chord zither performance.
According to the organizing board, all money collected from selling of souvenirs and dishes would be used to support people in eastern Ukraine./.
