Thua Thien Hue Boosts Cooperation with Canada
According to Shawn Steil, Canada has recently made positive contributions to the development of Thua Thien Hue regarding culture, education and training, gender equality, response to climate change, environmental protection, and heritage conservation.
Also according to Ambassador Shawn Steil, the Canadian Foundation for Local Initiatives (CFLI) has approved a relief project for people in Thua Thien Hue affected by recent floods. The program will be implemented by the Center for Rural Development, Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry.

“Other than implemented projects, the Canadian Government has committed to sponsoring the implementation “Smart Coastal Communities Adapting to Climate Change in Vietnam” to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable coastal communities, restore marine and coastal biodiversity, improve livelihoods, and reduce poverty through ecosystem restoration," said the Canadian Ambassador.
Chairman of the Thua Thien Hue People's Committee, Nguyen Van Phuong, thanked the Canadian Government for their support to the province through many projects and programs, notably the emergency support for the people of Thua Thien Hue who have suffered from recent flooding.
He hoped Ambassador Shawn Steil continue to encourage Canadian businesses to invest in Thua Thien Hue and increase traditional cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries to promote cooperative relations between Thua Thien Hue and Canada in the coming time.
He called on the Canadian government to organize cooperation programs and professional support in heritage conservation and restoration, scientific research, archeology, museums, exhibitions, hold seminars and service activities to promote heritage values.
