Top leader extends congratulations to Japanese King Father
Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong on April 30 sent his letter to Japanese King Father Akihito.

During King Father Akihito’s first Vietnam visit in 2017 when he was reigning.
The letter was occasioned by the latter’s abdication and becoming the King Father.
In his letter, the leader thanked King Father Akihito’s fine sentiment to the land and people of Vietnam, and highly valued the historical significance of his first Vietnam visit in 2017 when he was reigning.
A new era dawned in Japan on Wednesday (May 1) as Crown Prince Naruhito officially became emperor at midnight following his father's historic abdication from the Chrysanthemum Throne, the world's oldest monarchy.
The 59-year-old Naruhito will formally take possession of the sacred imperial regalia at a solemn ceremony later Wednesday but he became the 126th emperor at the stroke of midnight, ushering in the "Reiwa" imperial era./.
