At a polling station in Yen Lang Commune, Nguyen Van Goc, 94, a voter from Nai Chau Hamlet, arrived early in the morning. Though his movements were slow due to his age, he still held the ballot in his own hands, carefully reviewing it before placing it into the ballot box. For him, each election is not only an opportunity to exercise his citizen rights but also a chance to help select those worthy of representing the will and aspirations of the people.

Also at the polling station in Yen Lang Commune, Nguyen Thi Duong, 104, a voter from Hoang Xa Hamlet, was brought by her family to take part in the election day. At such a “rare” age, she remained mentally alert and personally placed her ballot into the ballot box, earning the respect and admiration of those present.

The image of Pham Thi Thinh, 95, a voter from Tay Xa Hamlet, leaning on her cane as she walked to the area displaying the list and brief biographies of the candidates also deeply moved many people. With the assistance of youth union volunteers who helped guide her, Thinh attentively followed the information about the candidates before entering the polling area.

The attentive support provided by youth volunteers and election officials for elderly voters also contributed to the many heartwarming scenes during election day. At numerous polling stations, volunteers were ready to assist, guide, and support the elderly to ensure that their participation in the election proceeded smoothly and safely.

Election officials in Yen Lang Commune noted that the locality always strives to create favorable conditions for elderly citizens to take part in elections, from arranging convenient access paths and providing guidance to organizing mobile ballot boxes when necessary. As a result, many elderly voters were still able to personally cast their ballots during this major national event.

Amid the enthusiastic crowds of voters across the country, the image of silver-haired citizens leaning on canes as they made their way to polling stations has become a beautiful and deeply moving moment. The ballots placed into the ballot boxes carry not only the meaning of choosing representatives, but also reflect the responsibility, trust, and deep connection that citizens feel toward the destiny of their nation.

Election day is also an occasion to witness the continuity between generations of Vietnamese citizens, from young people casting their ballots for the first time to centenarians who steadfastly continue to fulfill their sacred rights and duties.
