Nguyen Van Doat expressed hope that UN Women would continue supporting Dien Bien, particularly by providing training and capacity-building for officials responsible for gender equality in line with the requirements of the two-tier local government model. He also called for assistance in improving and expanding support models for survivors of violence, strengthening inter-agency coordination mechanisms, and enhancing the quality of victim support services at the grassroots level.
The province also requested that UN Women continue prioritizing communication campaigns to change public perceptions and eliminate gender stereotypes in ethnic minority, remote, and border areas. In addition, the province hopes UN Women will support women's livelihoods, vocational training, entrepreneurship, employment opportunities, and digital transformation, contributing to the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals at the local level.
Nguyen Van Doat reaffirmed the province's commitment to creating favorable conditions for international cooperation programs and projects to be implemented effectively. He also expressed hope that UN Women would continue mobilizing resources, expanding support programs in the province, and promoting Dien Bien's potential and strengths to international organizations, businesses, and investors, thereby contributing to the province's socio-economic development and improving local living standards.
Speaking at the meeting, Caroline Nyamayemombe thanked the Dien Bien provincial leadership for their warm hospitality. She commended the province's commitment and efforts to advancing gender equality and preventing and responding to gender-based violence, while reaffirming that UN Women would continue working closely with the province in implementing cooperation programs and projects.
Caroline Nyamayemombe also proposed that the province coordinate training courses to strengthen the capacity of government officials and other relevant groups. She further suggested that the province designate a focal point to facilitate UN Women's cooperation with nutrition experts in implementing local support activities. In addition, the two sides discussed several coordination mechanisms aimed at facilitating the implementation of future cooperation programs.
