Speaking at the program, Pham Giang Nam, Director of the Dien Bien Provincial Department of Health, said that since 2019, through cooperation between the Department of Health and Center II for Direct Assistance to Disabled Children under the Vietnam Relief Association for Handicapped Children, 874 surgeries and 40 medical procedures have been provided free of charge to children with disabilities across the province. In 2026, building on the results achieved in previous years, the screening process conducted at healthcare facilities identified 370 children with disabilities related to mobility, vision, oral and maxillofacial conditions, ear-nose-throat disorders, burns, urology, and other conditions who are eligible for medical examinations, consultations, treatment, and surgery. This is a deeply humanitarian initiative that helps provide children with opportunities for treatment, rehabilitation, improved quality of life, and greater social integration.

Pham Giang Nam, Director of the Dien Bien Provincial Department of Health, acknowledged and expressed gratitude for the support of Center II for Direct Assistance to Disabled Children, medical experts, doctors, charitable organizations, and sponsors that have accompanied the program over the years, bringing opportunities for treatment and life-changing interventions to many children facing particularly difficult circumstances throughout the province.

To ensure the program’s effectiveness, the Director of the Department of Health requested Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital to continue working closely with Center II, expert teams, and relevant agencies in strictly implementing professional procedures for examinations, screening, surgery, and post-operative care, ensuring absolute patient safety. At the same time, the hospital should create the most favorable conditions for children to access high-quality and effective healthcare services.

The “Journey of sowing green seeds of hope” program continues to demonstrate the commitment of authorities at all levels, sectors, and society as a whole to child care and protection, contributing to the effective implementation of social welfare policies while bringing confidence and hope to disadvantaged children in Dien Bien Province.
