US Government Aid Supports Natural Disasters Recovery in Gia Lai Province

On December 23, the Department of Dike Management and Disaster Prevention and Control (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment) in collaboration with the US Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City and CRS in Vietnam held a ceremony to hand over the disaster recovery aid to the people of Gia Lai province.

According to information from the Department of Dike Management and Disaster Prevention and Control, in response to the heavy damage caused by natural disasters, the US Government has decided to hand over an emergency aid package worth USD 1.25 million (equivalent to about VND 32 billion) through CRS in Vietnam for the affected provinces, including Quang Ngai, Gia Lai and Dak Lak. In which, Gia Lai province is supported by about VND 4.27 billion.

In his remarks, Nguyen Van Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Dike Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, expressed his gratitude to the Government and people of the United States and CRS for providing practical and timely support to the people of Vietnam, contributing to helping localities affected by natural disasters overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

After the handover session, dthe elegation and local leaders directly visited and inspected the implementation of the aid in Tuy Phuoc Dong commune.

Previously, on December 20, the Department of Dike Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control also coordinated with CRS in Vietnam and the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Cao Bang province to organize a multi-purpose cash donation (phase 2) to damaged households in Cao Bang province.

From the aid, more than VND 3.8 billion was given directly to 991 households in Hoa An, Can Yen and Thanh Long communes. After distributing the aid, the delegation, led by Deputy Director of the Department of Dike Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control Nguyen Van Tien and Chief Representative of CRS in Vietnam Dao Thi Hong visited the severely affected families in Can Yen commune.

The above activity is within the framework of the aid of nearly VND 6 billion of CRS in Cao Bang province for Hoa An, Thanh Long, and Can Yen communes, with 2 levels of support: VND 2.4 million for households of less than 2 people and VND 4 million for householdsof more than 2 people. In which, the 1st phase (on November 17) has been allocated in Hoa An commune is more than VND 1.5 billion to 410 households. It is expected that in early January 2026, the program will continue to support people in Hoa An commune with VND 604.2 million.
