US Supports Vietnam to Achieve Advanced Stroke Care

According to the announcement made by the US Mission to Vietnam, the Federation Handicap International (IH) is the implementing partner of the US Agency for International Development (USAID) for the training and technical support program with Bach Mai Hospital Stroke Center.

The announcement affirms U.S. support for strengthening health cooperation and assisting Vietnam’s critical medical facilities under the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (Photo: The US Mission to Vietnam).

Under a memorandum of understanding (MOU), signed by Bach Mai Hospital Director Assoc. Prof. Dao Xuan Co and Federation Handicap International Country Manager Mazedul Haque, in the next two years, the USAID implementing partner will work with Bach Mai to build a specialized workforce through supporting postgraduate training in stroke and cerebrovascular disease for doctors. The program focuses on strengthening the delivery of multidisciplinary services for patients with specific attention to ensuring a continuum of care throughout the care pathway.

It will also foster coordination, sharing of good practices, and technical support through national and international networks. Over 2 years, the cooperation program strives to build the research capacities of the Stroke Center and the Rehabilitation Centre of the Bach Mai Hospital.
