USAID Provides Disaster Response Equipment for Nghe An Province
The US Agency for International Development (USAID) recently provided the commune sisaster response equipments with a total value of VND 254 million (abour US $10.812) for Nghe An Province.

In particular, with the USAID sponsorship, the Red Cross Society of Nghe An province and the Red Cross Society of Hung Nguyen district handed over equipment to 2 disaster response teams of Hung Trung and Chau Nhan communes in Hung Nguyen district.
Accordingly, each commune is provided with disaster response equipment like motorboat, radio, lifebuoys and flashlights. There are also, raincoats, life jackets and boots. First aid kits are also included.
This is the project “Improving emergency response capacity for the Vietnam Red Cross Society” for the period of 2021 – 2023 sponsored by the USAID. The project strives to help communities in key disaster areas improve their ability to prevent, respond to and deal with situations and damage to people, health and property caused by various types of natural disasters.

The handovers promote the ability to mobilize synergy under the motto “4 on the spot” to perform better and more effectively the task of responding to natural disasters and disasters, ensuring safety for the communities in Nghe An province.
| Since 2000, USAID, through the Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance, has provided more than US $34 million in disaster response, preparedness, and disaster risk reduction assistance in Vietnam. In April 2023, also within the project “Improving emergency response capacity for the Vietnam Red Cross Society”, the Red Cross Society of Nghe An province in collaboration with VNRC organized an advanced disaster response training course on damage and needs assessment. The participants are provincial-level disaster response teams. They received training on conducting Damage and Needs Assessment at the site and responding to operations, aid relief. By the end of the course, particiaptns reported the information about the losses and most necessary needs of people in the areas affected by natural disasters to stakeholders, such as donors and partners. |
