This was one of the key messages emphasized by Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Nguyen Anh Duc during a working session on July 20 with representatives of the Vietnam Business Club in Myanmar (VBCM), the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Myanmar (AVIM), and leaders of 20 Vietnamese enterprises operating in the country, including Mytel, BIDV Yangon Branch, HAGL Myanmar, and several other major companies.

During the meeting, representatives of the Vietnam Business Club in Myanmar, the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Myanmar, and participating enterprises briefed the Ambassador on their production and business activities and operational plans for the coming period. They also discussed challenges related to security and safety, exchange rate fluctuations, international payments, access to foreign currency, profit repatriation, import licensing procedures, rising energy and logistics costs, and administrative bottlenecks.

The businesses noted that while recent developments in Myanmar have created certain new opportunities, the country's investment and business environment continues to face considerable challenges. They observed that significant growth potential remains in sectors such as telecommunications, digital transformation, financial services, infrastructure development, energy, construction materials, logistics, agriculture, and tourism. Several enterprises said they had proactively adjusted their business strategies, restructured operations, and sought new partners and business directions better suited to current conditions.

For his part, Ambassador Nguyen Anh Duc shared information on Vietnam's development goals and requirements in the new era, emphasizing the increasingly important role of overseas representative missions in advancing economic diplomacy. He also outlined Vietnam's foreign policy orientation, including its commitment to further promoting comprehensive relations with Myanmar, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, and investment.

Recognizing and commending the resilience, perseverance, and adaptability demonstrated by the Vietnamese business community in Myanmar, Ambassador Nguyen Anh Duc urged enterprises to continue strengthening risk management, complying with local laws, enhancing coordination, sharing information, and supporting one another. He also encouraged the Vietnam Business Club in Myanmar and the Association of Vietnamese Investors in Myanmar to continue serving as effective platforms for connecting, uniting, and assisting the Vietnamese business community in the country.

Ambassador Nguyen Anh Duc further called on Vietnamese enterprises to work more closely with the Embassy in implementing economic diplomacy initiatives, thereby strengthening the presence of Vietnamese businesses in Myanmar, expanding opportunities for cooperation, and contributing to Vietnam's double-digit growth target in the years ahead.

He reaffirmed that the Embassy of Vietnam in Myanmar would continue to accompany and support Vietnamese enterprises by providing market information, updating them on changes in local policies and regulations, issuing risk alerts, facilitating connections with Myanmar's government agencies, business associations, and partners, and consolidating specific recommendations for discussion with the competent authorities of both countries.

The Embassy and the Vietnamese business community in Myanmar agreed to maintain a quarterly consultation mechanism to regularly exchange information, promptly address emerging issues, and further promote economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Myanmar.
