Nguyen Van Loi, President of the Vietnam Esperanto Association.

Speaking at the conference, Nguyen Van Loi, President of the Vietnam Esperanto Association, emphasized the Association's long-standing history and contributions to the Esperanto movement. Established in 1956, the Vietnam Esperanto Association has contributed to the global Esperanto movement since the 1930s, earning recognition from international peers. During the two wars of national independence, Vietnamese Esperantoists made their voices heard on the global stage, with the Association's leadership participating in key international Esperanto movements.

In the past two decades, the Esperanto movement in Vietnam has experienced recovery and growth. The Vietnam Esperanto Association is among active associations worldwide and has been highly regarded by the Global Esperanto Association for its vibrant and effective initiatives. Many of its members have taken on leadership roles in the global Esperanto movement, including positions on the Executive Committee of the World Esperanto Association and the Executive Committee of the World Esperanto Youth Organization.

Recent achievements of the Esperanto movement in Vietnam include notable progress in encouraging young people to learn the language. Nguyen Van Loi commended the Association's efforts in organizing online classes, which have created favorable conditions for the movement's further development. He stressed the importance of fostering and training middle-aged leaders and young generations to ensure the continued growth of the Esperanto movement in Vietnam.

Tran Thi Hoan, Executive Committee Member of the Vietnam Esperanto Association, shared insights into the Association's activities in 2024. She noted that the Association faced several difficulties, including the limited participation of elderly members and the time-intensive nature of teaching and learning Esperanto. Nonetheless, favorable conditions such as the Global Esperanto Association's promotion of activities in Asia and advancements in artificial intelligence that simplify language learning facilitate the progress.

Domestically, the Association has continued to maintain regular meetings and activities. It has welcomed numerous Esperanto speakers from countries like China, Hungary, and the UK to Vietnam for work and travel purposes, fostering greater international exchange. The training program remains active, with the addition of a new Esperanto teacher and plans to launch more online classes to broaden access to Esperanto learning for interested individuals across the country.

On the international front, the Vietnam Esperanto Association has actively participated in global Esperanto events. Representatives attended the 80th Global Esperanto Youth Congress in Lithuania, the China-Japan-Korea Esperanto Congress in September 2024, and the Esperanto Youth Conference in December 2024.

According to Tran Thi Hoan, in the second quarter of 2025, the Association plans to hold the 7th term Congress. In addition, the Association needs to focus on preparing well in terms of manpower and personnel to actively participate in the activities of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organizations, and international events, thereby continuing to promote the Esperanto movement.
