| Vietnam Festival in Kanagawa 2023 Kicks Off |
On August 14, a press conference was held at the Kanagawa Prefectural Government Office in Japan to introduce the 8th Vietnam Festival in Kanagawa, scheduled for September 7-8. This is the most regularly held Vietnam festival in a Japanese locality, first organized in 2015.

In his remarks, Governor of Kanagawa Prefecture Kuroiwa Yuji emphasized that the theme of this year's festival is "Expanding Cultural Exchanges: Beautiful Vietnam," inspired by the idea of the blossoming flowers of Vietnam-Japan cooperation.
The festival will provide an opportunity to introduce the people of Kanagawa to the beautiful country of Vietnam, further promoting cultural exchange and connection between the two countries.
For his part, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu highlighted that the annual festivals have fostered a cultural intersection, serving as a bridge connecting the Vietnamese community and the people of Kanagawa.

In addition to showcasing Vietnamese culture, cuisine, and tourism, the booths will offer a range of interactive activities featuring Vietnam's distinctive folk art forms, including water puppetry, vovinam performances, and traditional folk games. A highlight of the festival will be the introduction of dialogue excerpts from the special opera "Princess Anio".
| Located in the southern part of Tokyo, Kanagawa Prefecture spans an area of 2,415 square kilometers and has a population of over 9.2 million, making it the second most populous prefecture in Japan. In recent years, the number of Vietnamese living and working in Kanagawa has steadily increased, making Vietnamese people the second-largest foreign community among the more than 170 countries and territories in the prefecture, with over 34,000 residents. The festival will take place from September 7-8 and is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of visitors. Before the festival, on September 6, an investment promotion and tourism seminar will be held, featuring delegations from Long An and Ha Nam provinces in Kanagawa. |
