The Pathet Lao newspaper of the Lao news agency KPL on March 4 ran an article on the Laos-Vietnam comprehensive cooperation for the 60th anniversary of bilateral ties and 45 years of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
It said the special cooperation between the Parties, States and people of the two countries politics, external affairs, education, economy, trade, and investment had deepened, bringing the highest benefits to both peoples.
Various joint projects have been carried out and completed, according to the article.
Vietnam’s non-refundable aid to Laos has been on the rise through the years. One of the notable examples is the new Lao National Assembly’s building - a gift from the Vietnamese Party, State, and people.
The two countries are speeding up and seeking investments in joint projects such as the Vientiane-Paksan-Thanh Thuy-Nghe An-Hanoi expressway and the Vientiane-Mu Gia-Tan Ap-Vung Ang railway.
Progress has been made in the construction of Nong Khang international airport in Houaphanh province, northern Laos.
The two countries are rolling out a memorandum of understanding on power purchase, under which Vietnam buys electricity from Lao projects like Namxam 3, Namkong 2-3, and Namang.
Cooperation in education and personnel development has received due attention from the two governments, as reflected through the number of Lao students in Vietnam each year, and vice versa.
The two countries have also stepped up collaboration between ministries, agencies, social organizations, and localities through the exchange of delegations, experience sharing, and mutual support, among other forms.
The article concluded that the in-depth cooperation has helped strengthen the bilateral relations founded and fostered by Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh and Lao President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, becoming a priceless heritage for future generations.
