Vietnam - Malaysia Tourism Cooperation Towards "Visit Malaysia 2026"

From July 29 to August 2, the "Malaysian Tourism, Arts, Culture and Cuisine Festival 2025" series of events was held in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The series marks a new step in tourism cooperation between Vietnam and Malaysia. This is part of Malaysia's international promotion strategy, towards the "Visit Malaysia 2026" campaign and Vietnam is one of the leading key markets in the ASEAN region.

Madani Week: Warm Invitation to Discover the "Heart" of Malaysia

This festival consists of two main activities. The first one is the Destination Introduction Workshop and Business Connection Exchange. The second one is the Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Cuisine Festival. More than 30 representatives of Malaysia's tourism, hospitality, and service industry, led by Malaysian Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing, were present.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister Dato' Sri Tiong King Sing noted that Vietnam has always been one of Malaysia's most important tourism partners in Southeast Asia.

“We believe that this visit will foster strong partnerships, towards the goal of sustainable and inclusive tourism development and bring long-term benefits to both countries,” said the Malaysian Minister.

He also affirmed that the series aims to introduce the unique values of Malaysian tourism, art, culture, and cuisine. It is also a vivid expression of cultural diplomacy, contributing to enhancing understanding and cohesion between the two peoples. This is also an important milestone in Malaysia's international promotion strategy, towards the tourism year 2026, he said.

At the seminar on Introducing Destinations and Networking Exchanges, the parties shared new tourism trends, sought opportunities for effective cooperation and connection in the fields of tourism, aviation, and hospitality. On the other hand, the arts and culture festival attracts the public audience. There are exciting traditional art performances, handicrafts, and especially a rich Malaysian culinary space, reflecting the typical intersection of a multi-ethnic country.

MADANI Week, organized by the Malaysian Embassy in Hanoi, also attracted the public. The event was built on the foundation of the "Madani" philosophy, emphasizing six core values. They are sustainability, prosperity, innovation, respect, trust, and compassion. This series of activities has integrated cultural content, education, and trade, demonstrating Malaysia's commitment to comprehensive national development and strengthening the strategic partnership with Vietnam.

In the first 5 months of 2025, the number of Malaysian visitors to Vietnam reached 266,000, ranking second in ASEAN, only after Cambodia. Malaysia also welcomed 168,677 Vietnamese visitors, affirming its position as a favorite destination for Vietnamese tourists thanks to its unique culture, quality services, and open tourism policy.

The "Visit Malaysia 2026" program, chaired by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia, aims to promote sustainable tourism development and is in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG). With a rich series of activities with a friendly approach and a communication strategy towards the Vietnamese market, Malaysia affirms its commitment to accompanying partners in the region to create a green, smart, and sustainable tourism industry.
