On the evening of September 23 in Hanoi, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Vietnam hosted a reception to commemorate the 95th anniversary of Saudi Arabia’s National Day, marking the unification and founding of the Kingdom on September 23, 1932, under the leadership of King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-Saud.

Representing the Government of Vietnam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang attended the event and delivered a congratulatory address. She emphasized that the 95th National Day is not only a source of pride for the Saudi people, but also a meaningful occasion for the international community to reflect on the Kingdom’s remarkable journey.

Over the decades, Saudi Arabia has distinguished itself as a pillar of regional stability, a thoughtful contributor to global dialogue, and a dynamic engine of economic growth.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang affirmed that in recent years, the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Saudi Arabia have grown increasingly profound and substantive.

To Vietnam, Saudi Arabia is not only a key partner but also a sincere and trusted friend, bound by mutual respect, shared interests, and vast potential for collaboration.

The bilateral relationship has seen robust and sustained progress across key areas such as trade, investment, and labor cooperation.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang expressed belief that the partnership between the two countries will continue to flourish, unlocking even greater opportunities and delivering tangible benefits for both sides. She emphasized that this evolving relationship is well-positioned to reach new heights, reflecting the trust, goodwill, and strategic potential shared by both countries.

Vietnam and Saudi Arabia are well-positioned to act as a bridge between two dynamic regions, ASEAN and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), contributing to stronger regional connectivity, promoting economic exchanges and to peace and prosperity across Asia and the Middle East.

The first ASEAN-GCC Summit was convened in October 2023, followed by the second Summit in May 2024, both of which marked the active participation of the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Vietnam Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dhalwy said the theme of the Saudi National Day celebrations in 2025, “Proud of Our Identity,” is a poignant reminder that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s greatest strength lies not in its resources or material achievements but in its people.

Within the framework of Vision 2030 and under the Kingdom's leadership, Saudi Arabia has made significant progress across various sectors, particularly in the economy, investment, and community development. Progress toward the set targets is advancing rapidly: 93% of indicators have been achieved or are on track, and 85% of initiatives have been implemented or are being implemented as planned.

Saudi Arabia is also actively preparing to host the World Expo 2030 and the World Cup 2034.

Regarding cooperation with Vietnam, Ambassador Mohammed Ismaeil A. Dhalwy noted that in recent years, both sides have actively exchanged delegations at all levels and held numerous effective meetings, yielding practical outcomes and further promoting friendship and cooperation across multiple fields, especially in economics, trade, investment, and people-to-people exchange, while enhancing connectivity between the GCC and ASEAN regions.

Economic cooperation is considered a key pillar of the growing partnership. Saudi Arabia is currently one of Vietnam's leading economic partners in the Middle East, with bilateral trade turnover rising by 53%, from approximately USD 2 billion in 2021 to over USD 3 billion in 2024.

Tourism, a promising area of cooperation, is also developing strongly. In recent months, the number of Saudi tourists visiting Vietnam has exceeded 10,000, reflecting the deepening friendly ties between the two countries.
