Speaking at the ceremony, Le Quang Hung, President of the Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association, shared that over the 75 years of diplomatic relations, Slovakia has given Vietnam significant support in the country’s reunification, construction, and development. Notably, Slovakia provided university and postgraduate training for nearly 4,000 engineers, graduates, and doctoral candidates; trained 7,000 workers in various industrial and construction sectors; facilitated opportunities for nearly 20,000 Vietnamese laborers to work in Slovak factories and enterprises; and participated in aid and construction of several projects in Vietnam, such as the Vietnam-Czechoslovakia Friendship Hospital in Hai Phong and the Hanoi Children’s Cultural Palace.
Le Quang Hung emphasized that the Vietnam-Slovakia Friendship Association hopes that in the coming time, the two countries will continue to strengthen and expand their comprehensive cooperation for the common prosperity of both sides.

The fine tradition of exchanges and closer people-to-people ties, initiated by former Vietnamese students who graduated from Slovak schools, will now be carried forward by the next generations through activities like this event.

Vietnam and Slovakia established diplomatic relations on February 2, 1950. Building on the traditional friendship between Vietnam and the former Czechoslovakia, since 1993, the relationship between the two countries has continued to see positive developments in many areas. Over the years, the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Slovakia has been constantly strengthened and developed across multiple fields.
A highlight of bilateral relations is the formation and growth of the Vietnamese community of about 10,000 people living, working, and studying in Slovakia. This community has increasingly integrated successfully, made significant contributions, and affirmed its role in Slovak society. As a result, in June 2023, the Slovak Government officially recognized the Vietnamese community as the 14th ethnic minority group in Slovakia.
Today, the Vietnamese community in Slovakia has successfully integrated into society, actively contributed to the host country, while preserving and promoting the beauty of Vietnamese cultural traditions to Slovak society, continuing to serve as an important bridge between the two nations.
