According to VUFO President Phan Anh Son, over 100 American non-governmental organizations are currently operating in Vietnam in many fields such as public health care, livelihood, and overcoming the consequences of war. However, unexploded ordnance is still a big issue in Vietnam, especially in the Central and South Central regions. Along with that, more than 3,000 people are suffering from Agent Orange.
Phan Anh Son recognized VFP's contribution to settling war legacies in Vietnam. The Government of Vietnam and VUFO highly appreciate the Vietnam-US people-to-people relations and consider this an important foundation for the two countries to further cooperate, especially in handling the consequences of war.
