Vietnamese Architecture Major Wins the International Graduation Projects Award 2023
Before winning the first prize, Tran Thi Chi's graduation project was among ten Vietnamese representatives in the top 100 International Graduation Project Award 2023. The project is named "Culture of the Sea Museum" and was supervised by Vietnamese Architect Do Quoc Hiep. First prize winner Chi will receive a 2-year master's scholarship at Milan Polytechnic University (Italy).
Speaking about the inspiration for "Culture of the Sea Museum", Chi emphasized the application of the traditional boat frame construction techniques in her project. It is her story of preserving and disseminating the tangible and intangible culture of the coastal regions.

The jury recognized Chi's work to be an inspiring project with high respect for the project’s impact on the local community. Without affecting the simplicity of the life of coastal residents, the project avoids disturbing the beauty of the landscape.
The project is based on a solid attachment of the local community to the sea in Phan Thiet City (Vietnam). Tran Thi Chi used the museum’s form and space as a tool that stands against urbanization which destroys the ‘sense of place’, ‘cultural identity’ and heritage in the area.
Nguyen Thanh Luan, another student of Course 24, an Architecture major, at Van Lang University, also made it to the top 100 of the International Graduation Project Award 2023 with the graduation project "Folk Belief Cultural Museum of Vietnam".
