In Russia, according to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), on February 15, the Youth Union - Vietnamese Students’ Association at the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) organized the “Tet Ngo Phuc” program to welcome the Spring of Binh Ngo 2026. The event attracted a large number of Vietnamese students studying and living in Moscow. The venue was decorated in a distinctly traditional style, recreating the atmosphere and flavors of Tet from home in the heart of Russia.

Student-performed artistic programs, together with the “Fortune Telling at the Beginning of the Year” activity featuring a “fortune teller,” created a lively and cohesive atmosphere. Notably, documentary footage capturing preparations for Tet in Vietnam served as a spiritual bridge, helping overseas students ease their homesickness and more deeply appreciate the cultural values of their homeland during the first days of Spring.
On the same day in the United States, despite a winter snowstorm bringing frigid temperatures to the Northeast, more than 80 Vietnamese living and working at the United Nations, IBM Corporation, and financial funds in Manhattan gathered in Pleasantville, Westchester County, New York, to attend the program “Tet of the Three Regions - Homeland Spring.”
Families personally prepared the year-end feast with a full array of traditional dishes instead of ordering from restaurants. The festive atmosphere continued with folk songs, the sound of the dan tranh (Vietnamese zither), and homegrown cultural performances. Nguyen Huong Giang, currently working at the Devereux Organization, shared that her family and friends always eagerly anticipate the “Tet of the Three Regions - Homeland Spring” event. According to her, organizing a Vietnamese Tet celebration in New York stems from the families’ desire to preserve traditional cultural features and the national spirit, from cuisine, New Year rituals, and customs to traditional attire, for younger generations.

Nguyen Thanh Tu (Amy Nguyen), who works for Happiness Infinity LLC, expressed her gratitude that the Vietnamese community in Westchester organized a warm and heartfelt traditional Tet celebration to welcome the Spring of Binh Ngo 2026. Such events help overseas Vietnamese maintain a strong bond with their ancestral roots - the lineage of “descendants of the Dragon and the Fairy” - and jointly preserve this distinctive cultural identity. At the same time, Vietnamese Tet celebrations have also contributed to the multicultural vibrancy of New York City.
In Canada, Phan Thi Quynh Trang, founder of the Canada-Vietnam Cultural and Educational Council, stated that preparing bánh chưng (traditional square sticky rice cake) and the Tet feast in Canada has been maintained for the past 10 years. The occasion serves to connect generations within the Vietnamese community and help children born and raised abroad better understand their cultural roots. This year, the Canada-Vietnam Cultural and Educational Council coordinated with several partners to organize a Tet feast featuring a full range of traditional dishes, inviting Canadian friends to attend, experience, and enjoy. Through such activities, Vietnamese cultural images are introduced in a vivid and approachable manner, contributing to the promotion of a humane and tradition-rich Vietnam in the context of international integration.
In Warsaw, Poland, according to information from the Embassy of Vietnam in Poland, on February 15 the Embassy, in coordination with the Association of Vietnamese in Poland, organized the “Homeland Spring 2026” program with the participation of more than 300 members of the community and numerous local politicians. Among them were Member of Parliament Grzegorz Napieralski, Chairman of the Poland-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group, and Senator Wojciech Konieczny, Chairman of the Polish Socialist Party.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai emphasized the sacred significance of the traditional Lunar New Year as a time for reunion and remembrance of one’s roots. He acknowledged the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community to the host country’s socio-economic life and expressed gratitude to Polish friends who have consistently accompanied Vietnam. The Ambassador reviewed activities commemorating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Poland diplomatic relations in 2025 and noted that the two countries are moving toward upgrading their ties to a strategic partnership.
At the ceremony, Ambassador Ha Hoang Hai, on behalf of the President of Vietnam, presented the Friendship Order to Wojciech Gerwel, former Polish Ambassador to Vietnam, in recognition of his contributions to strengthening bilateral relations. The cultural program featuring traditional songs and dances created a vibrant atmosphere and left a positive impression on local friends.
