Director General for Trade Policy Camilla Mellander praised the longstanding friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Sweden and Vietnam over the past decades. She noted that meaningful events like today’s not only strengthen the bonds of friendship between the peoples of the two countries, but also help Sweden gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam’s history, culture, cuisine, and identity - a nation rich in tradition, dynamic in spirit, and increasingly asserting its important role on the international stage.
At the celebration, guests were treated to the documentary “80 Years of Nation-Building and Development”, which showcased vivid images of Vietnam’s culture, tourism, and socio-economic achievements - portraying a modern, dynamic country that remains deeply rooted in its traditions.
A notable highlight of the event was the recognition of Alexander Tran and Ayaan Wolven, members of Sweden’s national team, who won a Bronze Medal at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad held in China in August 2025. Alexander Tran is a Swedish student of Vietnamese origin, while Ayaan Wolven is the son of a senior official at Sweden’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Their achievement was not only a source of pride for the Vietnamese community in Sweden but also a vivid symbol of the strong and promising ties between the peoples of Vietnam and Sweden in an era shaped by scientific and technological advancement.
