Chau Thanh Vu has become one of the 33 candidates winning full five-year doctoral scholarship (USD79,000/year) at US's Harvard University.
The 23-year-old boy continues to win doctoral scholarships which have the best faculty of economics in the US and the World, including: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Princeton University, Stanford University, University of Chicago, Yale University, Columbia University and University of Minnesota.
Winning full doctoral scholarships of eight US well-known universities at the same time brings chau Thanh Vu great admiration from many around the world.
Previously, the student from Ninh Thuan province won seven full reputable college scholarships in the US, Germany and Canada.
Graduated from the secondary school in Ninh Thuan province’s Phan Rang – Thap Cham town, Vu went to Ho Chi Minh city to pursue his dream of becoming a software engineer.
Studying in an informatics class at the Gifted High School under the Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh city (VNU-HCMC), Vu won many awards and top prizes at national and municipal informatics contests.
In grade 11, Vietnam’s United World College (UWC) awarded a full scholarship to Vu to study two-years at high school in the US. After the study tour abroad, Vu determined his biggest dream was to become a macroeconomist and to be able to easily change people’s lives, especially those of the poor in his countryside.
During the time studying at UWC, Vu met a lot of friends who had ideas and plans to achieve specific goals. That motivated him to decide to study the economics, even before that he studied informatics.
Winning nearly 10 full college scholarships, Vu chose to study at Princeton University, one of universities with the best faculty of economics in the US. He was also awarded the best student of the faculty of economics at Princeton University when he was a third-year student.
Vu shared, after graduating the doctoral degree, that he wants to combine between being a professor and policy consultancy to a public organization such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, or the government of Vietnam./.
