Speaking at the handover ceremony in Caracas, Vietnamese Ambassador Le Viet Duyen spoke highly of the thriving Vietnam-Venezuela relations over the past time and the sentiments of the NA, Government and people of Vietnam through the medical aid.

Vietnam is ready to share its part of their resources with Venezuela to help the Government and people of Venezuela battle COVID-19, particularly amidst the pandemic’s serious impact around the world, he affirmed.

In the past time, staff at the Vietnamese Embassy joined hands with relevant agencies in the two countries to airlift the aid to Caracas amid the cessation of international flights.

On this occasion, the Embassy also thanked the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines for its assistance in transporting the medical aid to the South American country timely.

For their part, representatives of the Venezuelan NA and Foreign Ministry voiced their gratitude to Vietnam for the support as the COVID-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc in the Venezuela and Latin America in general.

They also hoped that the bilateral relations will continue to flourish and obtain more achievements in keeping with the comprehensive partnership.

Vietnam and Venezuela established diplomatic relations on December 18, 1989, which was upgraded to a comprehensive partnership in 2007.

Since then, despite geographical distance, both nations have constantly strengthened their friendship and collaboration through the exchange of contacts and all-level delegation.

In recent months, Vietnam's governments, businesses, and people have donated supplies such quick test kits, medical masks, personal protective equipment and rice as well as cash donation to assist the fight against COVID-19 in many nations.

While countries around the world face severe mask shortages, Vietnam's governments, businesses, and people have been began to support and provide material assistance to nations struggling to equip frontline medical workers. Vietnam has been highly appreciated by many countries for the spirit of solidarity. Although it is also affected by COVID-19, Vietnam is still willing to share resources, provide medical assistance and create favorable conditions for citizens of countries to stay here.

The aid illustrates Vietnam’s continued willingness to assist other countries on a bilateral and multilateral basis to the best of its abilities even as it continues to remain cautious about managing its own coronavirus challenge at home.
