An Giang province has established a strict roadmap with a concrete plan, mobilizing all resources to soon end illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.

Hundreds of vessel owners and fishermen in Phu Yen ward, Dak Lak province, have received outreach and signed commitments not to engage in illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, as the locality tightens vessel management and strengthens voyage monitoring to prevent violations and help remove the European Commission (EC)’s “yellow card.”

In recent years, illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing has continued to pose potential risks, adversely affecting marine resources, the ecological environment, and Vietnam’s reputation in international markets. In response to the urgent need to have the European Commission’s (EC) “yellow card” warning lifted, Dak Lak Province has been implementing a comprehensive set of measures, with a strong focus on public communication and raising legal awareness among citizens, particularly fishermen.

To strictly control fishing activities, prevent IUU violations, and contribute to the sustainable and internationally integrated development of the fisheries sector, Quang Tri has stepped up communication, inspection, and monitoring efforts to raise awareness and compliance among fishermen.
