In his opening remarks, HAUFO Vice President Nguyen Nam Hai emphasized the significant contributions of diplomatic work to Vietnam's socio-economic development over the past 35 years of Renewal (Doi Moi).

He noted that diplomacy has played a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability, facilitating development, safeguarding sovereignty, and enhancing Vietnam’s international position in the international arena. Particularly, Ho Chi Minh’s thought on diplomacy and the Party’s principles on people-to-people diplomacy have served as a guiding light throughout the country’s revolutionary journey and its international engagement.

He also affirmed the strong tradition and progressive development of people-to-people diplomacy in Hanoi, particularly through the implementation of key directives and resolutions, including Directive No. 12-CT/TW dated January 5, 2022, by the Secretariat on “Strengthening the Party's leadership and improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation”; Circular No. 05-TT/TU dated May 23, 2022, by the Hanoi Party Committee on “Strengthening the Party's leadership and improving the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation in Hanoi"; and HAUFO’s resolutions for its 2022-2027 term. These documents have provided clear direction for enhancing the Party’s leadership in advancing the effectiveness of people-to-people diplomacy in the new situation.

During the workshop, delegates received a presentation by a reporter from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee’s Commission for Information and Education on the theoretical and practical values of Ho Chi Minh’s thought on diplomacy and people-to-people diplomacy.

At the workshop, delegates engaged in discussions, focusing on practical applications, particularly the integration of Ho Chi Minh’s thought into diverse, flexible, and effective diplomatic activities. The event also served as a platform for sharing experiences and strategies to handle real-world situations in people-to-people diplomacy, thereby enhancing the capacity of HAUFO's officials and members.
