- What role do voter meetings play, and could you share the progress of this work in Yen Lang so far?
The timeframe for organizing voter meetings for election campaigning is very short, from February 26 to March 14, 2026 for candidates running for the 16th National Assembly, and from February 27 to March 14, 2026 for candidates running for People’s Councils at all levels. According to the Law on Election of Deputies to the National Assembly and People’s Councils, the Standing Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels will preside over and coordinate with the People’s Committees at the same level to organize voter meetings for candidates running for the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels to conduct their election campaigns.
Voter meetings serve as a “bridge” enabling candidates and voters to meet directly and discuss the proposed action programs that candidates intend to implement if elected. Well-organized meetings not only ensure democracy and fairness but also create a smooth and multi-dimensional flow of information between voters and their prospective representatives. This provides important information for voters to consider when exercising their democratic rights through responsible ballots to elect truly worthy representatives.

In Yen Lang Commune, the leadership and direction for organizing voter meetings have been implemented urgently. As of March 7, the commune had successfully organized 45 out of 45 voter meetings for election campaigning in nine electoral units for the commune-level People’s Council for the 2026-2031 term, as scheduled. More than 8,200 voters attended these meetings.
The atmosphere at these meetings has been serious, open, democratic, and constructive. Voters participated enthusiastically, engaging in candid discussions with candidates on issues related to socio-economic development, grassroots governance, and the responsibilities of elected representatives if they are chosen. The meetings were lively, with the highest number of voter comments reaching 16 opinions at a single meeting. All opinions were focused and relevant to the meeting agenda, reflecting voters’ expectations for their representatives in the coming term.
The organization of these meetings was carefully prepared. Coordination between the Vietnam Fatherland Front, local authorities, relevant departments, and functional forces was implemented closely to ensure public order and absolute safety throughout the events. All meetings were successfully conducted with high quality, in accordance with legal regulations and the established plan, creating a festive atmosphere for the people even before election day. Yen Lang is among the localities in Hanoi that completed voter meetings the earliest.
In addition to ensuring the minimum number of 45 meetings as required by regulations, Yen Lang Commune also has plans to organize additional meetings tailored to specific groups. If candidates for the National Assembly or People’s Councils wish to meet voters in specific electoral units or across the entire commune by certain voter groups for campaign and outreach purposes, the commune’s Vietnam Fatherland Front is ready to consider and coordinate the organization of such meetings.
- Could you tell us how the Vietnam Fatherland Front has supported candidates in developing action programs suited to the local context?
The commune’s Vietnam Fatherland Front organized a specialized conference to provide direct guidance to candidates for the commune-level People’s Council. At this conference, candidates were supported with certain skills and necessary materials to confidently persuade voters with practical action plans suited to local conditions.
We understand that each electoral unit has different characteristics in terms of population, geography, culture, and economy. Therefore, the commune’s Vietnam Fatherland Front proactively coordinated with the People’s Committee and village authorities to provide candidates with information on the distinctive characteristics of each village and neighborhood, as well as the overall development situation of Yen Lang Commune and major goals for the upcoming term.

Voters in the commune are currently quite attentive and have a strong critical spirit. Therefore, we advise candidates to avoid grandiose rhetoric, empty theory, or vague promises lacking practicality. Action programs should address specific issues directly, preferably illustrated with vivid examples and closely reflecting the aspirations and concerns of local residents.
I have attended many voter meetings and heard voters give very positive assessments of the commune-level preparations for this election term. Even when meetings were held at village cultural houses with 100-200 voters, people maintained order and listened attentively as candidates presented their action plans. Discussions and questions from voters were practical and closely linked to local realities, providing opportunities for candidates to express their viewpoints, thinking, and personal plans.
Alongside the main tasks, the commune’s Vietnam Fatherland Front has also skillfully integrated communication about the locality’s key priorities and encouraged voters to participate fully and punctually on the official election day. The success of these meetings benefits both candidates and voters, while also spreading the spirit of turning election day into a true “Festival of the People.”
- In your opinion, why has Yen Lang been able to complete election preparations early and effectively?
We closely follow the spirit of “six clarities” and “five actions”, namely: act immediately, act quickly, act correctly, act decisively, and follow through to completion, in accordance with the directives and guidance from the central authorities and the Hanoi municipal government.
In recent days, all voter meetings at polling locations have been directly chaired by members of the Standing Committee of the commune’s Vietnam Fatherland Front to ensure solemnity and compliance with regulations. Although mobilizing human resources at the commune level involves considerable pressure, the locality remains determined to carry out the work with the highest sense of responsibility.
Another important factor is that Yen Lang Commune proactively accelerated the timeline. As soon as the voter meeting period began, we immediately launched the work, including organizing meetings during weekends. The commune set a goal to complete the work ahead of the prescribed deadline in order to reserve time afterward to review, resolve any arising issues, and prepare for subsequent steps. This ensures that when reporting to the city authorities, all data and the local situation are stable, safe, and of the highest quality.

In addition, the commune’s Vietnam Fatherland Front places special emphasis on building coordination mechanisms with relevant parties. The VFF not only follows the direct leadership of the Party Committee but also proactively maintains close coordination with the People’s Council, the People’s Committee, the Commune Election Committee, and relevant steering bodies and specialized departments.
We maintain close links with the grassroots political system, including Party cell secretaries, village heads, and heads of village-level Fatherland Front working committees. During peak periods, all members of the system are ready to support one another in the spirit of serving the common good and ensuring compliance with legal regulations. Without such close coordination among agencies and organizations, mobilizing forces that are already undertaking multiple specialized tasks would be extremely difficult.
Along with organizing voter meetings, coordination in election communication and voter mobilization in Yen Lang Commune has also achieved very positive results, helping to create a vibrant atmosphere and enhance public awareness of this major national event. The rapid progress of the work has also been greatly supported by the commune’s current team of Fatherland Front officials, who have demonstrated a highly proactive working spirit. They possess solid professional expertise, flexibly apply experience from other localities, do not hesitate to work on days off, and are ready to offer frank and constructive feedback. Their willingness to listen and accept opinions without personal sensitivities has fostered a united collective with a shared sense of responsibility toward the common goal.
Thanks to this synchronized and harmonious coordination, voter meetings in Yen Lang have not only ensured democracy and compliance with the law but have also taken place in a cheerful and enthusiastic atmosphere, receiving strong trust and consensus from the people.
- Thank you very much for your time.
