Green tea offers many health benefits and is becoming an increasingly important part of many people’s daily diets. It not only helps prevent serious diseases but also keeps the mind relaxed and refreshed, especially when consumed in the morning.

Boosts the Immune System

According to The Healthsite, several studies have shown that people who suffer from allergies to pollen or pet hair benefit greatly from green tea because regular consumption enhances immune function. Green tea also helps fight bacteria, viruses, and common illnesses, while inhibiting the spread of various infections.

Regulates Blood Pressure

If you have high blood pressure, drinking green tea in the morning is recommended. Green tea is rich in catechins, especially epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), a powerful antioxidant that helps improve endothelial function.

Green tea also contains L-theanine, an amino acid with relaxing effects that supports blood pressure regulation. Drinking 3–4 cups of green tea daily may help maintain healthy blood pressure levels.

Supports Digestion

Green tea has been shown to help balance the gut microbiome. Researchers report that compounds in green tea promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria while reducing harmful ones, according to a 2021 review published in Molecules.

Green tea may also support the production of short-chain fatty acids, also known as postbiotics — beneficial by-products created by gut bacteria.

Reduces Cancer Risk

According to Eating Well, antioxidants in green tea — especially polyphenols — help protect cells from oxidative damage, which contributes to chronic diseases and cancer. Polyphenols may help prevent the formation of free radicals that damage cells, thereby lowering cancer risk.

In addition, among women with a family history of breast cancer, drinking five cups of green tea per week was associated with a 15% reduction in breast cancer risk, according to a 2020 study published in the International Journal of Cancer.

Lowers Bad Cholesterol

Green tea may help reduce low-density lipoprotein (LDL) — commonly known as “bad” cholesterol — as well as total cholesterol and triglycerides. This effect is believed to come from catechins, the antioxidants found in green tea.

Supports Weight Loss

The EGCG compounds in green tea help increase thermogenesis, boost metabolism, and improve exercise endurance. Green tea can also reduce cravings for unhealthy foods. It stimulates the nervous system, helping the body burn fat more efficiently.
