More than 100 original artworks created by 26 local Vietnamese artists were displayed at the “Paint a Heart” art exhibit on December 16.

The exhibition was organized by the Stable Anchor Manor Foundation (S.A.M Foundation) in Westminster, California (USA).

S.A.M Foundation was founded in 2009 by Dr. Sam Nguyen, aiming to support Vietnam's homeless and orphaned children. This organization also provides scholarships for students in Vietnam, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The S.A.M Foundation announced on their Facebook on Dec. 22 that the art exhibition was very successful with auction results of more than $6000 (VND 137 million).

Artist Lam Thuy, whose paintings were displayed at the exhibition, said the event is important to not only orphans and students, but also the Vietnamese artist community. “Before COVID, oftentimes we would have art shows in our Vietnamese community, ” said Thuy. “Because of COVID, we have missed that chance to gather together to show people our passion for art.”

Dr. Sam Nguyen also shared that she has hopes for concentrating her efforts on supporting the Vietnamese community in Westminster. “I have been working really hard to open a center, a place for kids to come after school and be safe. Especially if they can’t speak the language and need help. That is my dream.”
