Book Festival Promotes Reading Culture in Tuyen Quang

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and State President To Lam’s visits to Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines demonstrate Vietnam’s efforts to position itself as a more active leader and coordinator within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). This assessment was made by strategic security analyst Collins Chong Yew Keat of the University of Malaya in an interview with a correspondent in Kuala Lumpur on June 1.

The President of Vietnam has decided to grant amnesty to 9,950 prisoners currently serving prison sentences who meet the conditions stipulated by law. The decision takes effect on June 1, 2026, reaffirming the Party and State’s policy of clemency and humanitarianism while creating opportunities for those granted amnesty to reintegrate into society.

The 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress for the 2026-2031 term will take place in Hanoi from June 3-5 amid the country’s ongoing efforts to advance digital transformation, deepen international integration, and build new productive forces. With a strong emphasis on organizational reform, innovation in operational methods, and improving the quality of trade union personnel, the Congress is expected to usher in a new phase of development for the Trade Union organization, enabling it to better accompany, represent, and protect workers’ rights and interests.

From May 27-30, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Vietnam, in coordination with the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority (VDDMA) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, organized a series of training sessions and disaster response drills in Cat Tien and Ngo May communes, Gia Lai Province, to strengthen community preparedness and response capacity.
