Bringing Essence of Vietnamese Cuisine Closer to Europe and the World

On the evening of July 8, at Pho Saigon Restaurant in Vienna, Austria, the Vietnamese Embassy in Austria, in coordination with the We Love Pho Association, the Ninh Binh Culinary Culture Association, and Vietnamese culinary artisans and experts, organized a program titled “Pho and Culinary Culture: Bringing Vietnamese Identity Closer to Europe and the World.”The event was one of the stops on the Journey of Pho and Vietnamese Culinary Culture Across Europe, contributing to the promotion of Vietnam’s image, people, and cultural values to international friends.

Vietnamese Vegetarian Cuisine Introduced to Diplomatic Community in the United States

The program brought together eight artisans, chefs, and culinary experts from Vietnam, who came to Austria to showcase the preparation of traditional dishes, with pho as the highlight. In addition to culinary experiences, the event featured seminars, professional exchanges, and networking activities among organizations and businesses operating in the culinary and tourism sectors, thereby enhancing cooperation opportunities and promoting Vietnamese culture in the European market.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Austria Vu Le Thai Hoang emphasized that pho is not merely a famous dish but also a symbol of Vietnamese culture. The ambassador said that Vietnam is currently preparing a dossier to seek UNESCO recognition for pho as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, to elevate pho into a national cultural brand while contributing to the development of tourism and the cultural industry.

According to the organizers, the Journey of Pho and Vietnamese Culinary Culture Across Europe is expected to visit nine destinations in six countries. Through this series of activities, the image of pho, along with the unique values of Vietnamese culinary culture, will continue to be introduced to international audiences, helping strengthen people-to-people exchanges and promote Vietnam’s cultural identity on the global stage.
