	Humanitarian program provides free medical treatment to disadvantaged people
	US-Funded Initiative to Combat Child Drowning in Hanoi

The program aims to support disadvantaged students by offering medical care and scholarships, provide people with disabilities with mobility equipment, and assist families in difficult circumstances with health check-ups and gifts. The initiative seeks to share responsibility with families and local authorities in caring for people with disabilities, contributing to the effective implementation of social welfare in the locality.

Specifically, the program will award 100 scholarships and 100 gift packages to underprivileged students; donate 50 wheelchairs and 50 essential gift packages to people with disabilities; conduct medical examinations and treatment for about 150 adults; and provide medical and dental care for 150 lower secondary students and 100 preschool and primary students.

The total budget for the program is VND 1.224 billion (approximately USD 48,000), fully funded by PVF.

The Can Tho People’s Committee has assigned the Can Tho Union of Friendship Organizations to coordinate with relevant parties to receive and implement the program in accordance with regulations, ensuring effectiveness and alignment with the stated objectives.

PVF is a US-based non-governmental organization operating in the healthcare sector, particularly in reconstructive surgery and charitable medical services in Vietnam. Established in 1996, PVF has implemented numerous projects in cooperation with hospitals and localities across Vietnam to provide free healthcare services, especially for those in difficult circumstances.
