At the meeting, Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep expressed her honor in welcoming the Consul General and highlighted Can Tho’s strong potential in developing a high-quality workforce. She noted that the city is home to more than 60 universities, colleges, and vocational training institutions, with Can Tho University serving as a national hub. The city is actively promoting training models closely aligned with business needs, particularly in fields such as processing, logistics, digital technology, and clean energy.

The Vice Chairwoman highly valued the “German Career Bus,” describing it as a valuable opportunity for Can Tho to strengthen vocational education cooperation, expand connections with businesses, and train a high-quality workforce to serve sustainable socio-economic development. She noted that Germany is a strategic partner of Vietnam in this field, with 10 vocational training projects already implemented or underway, creating employment opportunities in Germany for Vietnamese workers.

On this basis, Can Tho City expressed its desire to implement German-standard vocational training models locally. The city also proposed expanding cooperation in other potential fields such as renewable energy, green industry, logistics, and smart urban development.

Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diep affirmed that Can Tho is ready to provide the most favorable conditions for German organizations, businesses, and training institutions to cooperate and invest in the city. This, she emphasized, would not only deepen the friendship but also foster practical and effective cooperation between Can Tho and its German partners.

In response, Consul General Andrea Maria Suhl expressed her delight at seeing more young people in Can Tho showing interest in studying and working in Germany. She considered this an important foundation for developing vocational education in the city and for creating greater opportunities for students. She also underscored the role of the Vietnamese community in Germany as a cultural bridge and a driver of closer bilateral cooperation.

The Consul General noted that German businesses are particularly interested in investing in areas such as green industry, renewable energy, smart urban development, education, agriculture, and cultural exchange. She emphasized that the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam, together with the German Business Association, stands ready to serve as a bridge to strengthen linkages with localities like Can Tho in the near future.
