The two sides discussed developing a specific cooperation roadmap for the 2026-2028 period, initially focusing on education and training, as well as port development - areas in which both localities possess significant potential and strengths.
Joining the delegation, Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, and representatives of the City of Turku agreed to promote cooperation in science, technology, and innovation, while strengthening connections among universities, research institutes, innovation centers, and business communities in both localities.
In addition, the two sides will explore the possibility of implementing cooperation and technology transfer programs in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor technology, electronic microchips, the Internet of Things (IoT), biotechnology, biomedical technology, and other high-tech industries.
Turku’s leaders shared information on the city’s growth and development strategy, as well as its experiences in policymaking, methods for assessing public satisfaction with public services, and the city’s policies.
They also introduced solutions aimed at improving the effectiveness of local governance, enhancing transparency and accountability, and increasing public participation in the policy formulation and implementation process.
Following the discussions, Nguyen Duc Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Council, proposed that both sides study the establishment of a regular delegation exchange mechanism between the Turku City Council and the Da Nang People’s Council.
He also suggested increasing the sharing of experiences in local governance, smart city development, digital transformation, and improving the quality of elected bodies’ operations in the context of building a modern administration that serves citizens and businesses, with public satisfaction serving as a key measure of performance.
The visit and working session of the Da Nang delegation in Turku contributed to deepening the friendly cooperative relationship between the two cities, creating a favorable foundation for promoting practical and effective cooperation programs in the future, particularly in the fields of science, technology, innovation, education and training, and smart urban development.
