Da Nang City, Germany’s Thüringen State Strengthen Friendship, Cooperation

At a recent meeting with leaders of Da Nang as part of his Vietnam visit, Bodo Ramelow stressed achievements in collaboration with Vietnam in import-export, investment, restaurants and hotels, information technology, construction and transportation consultation, and especially education and human resources.
Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Le Trung Chinh stressed that there have been many German-invested projects in Da Nang, and Vietnam-Germany trade has been constantly expanded.
On that basis, Chinh expressed his hope that Bodo Ramelow’s visit will contribute to enhancing cooperation between the two sides and that the Minister-President will work as a bridge to help boost the friendship and cooperation between the German state and Da Nang in all areas.
On this occasion, Thüringen state organized an exchange program between its authorities and businesses and counterparts in Da Nang city, during which the participating enterprises learned about the economic situation, potential, strengths, and opportunities for investment in both Thüringen and Da Nang.
Currently, about 3,000 Vietnamese people living in Thüringen, forming one of the largest foreign communities in the German state.
Earlier, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son hosted a reception for Bodo Ramelow in Hanoi.
Thüringen and Germany as a whole are important partners of Vietnam, Son affirmed, expressing his belief that Bodo Ramelow’s working visit to the country will provide a fresh impetus for the bilateral relations, benefiting localities and businesses of both sides.
To develop ties, Son suggested Thüringen State support the German Parliament to approve the EU – Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), elaborating that the deal will open up new cooperation opportunities for business communities, investors, and localities of both nations.
The official also suggested that Thüringen step up cooperation with Vietnamese partners across the fields of its strengths such as agriculture, high technology, processing, and manufacturing.
Both sides should enhance human resources training cooperation in various sectors, Son said, affirming the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will help promote the connection between Thüringen and competent ministries, sectors, localities, and businesses in Vietnam.
