Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier

On August 31, the German Embassy in Hanoi announced that President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier sent his congratulatory telegram on the occasion of Vietnam's National Day to Vietnam Top Leader Nguyen Phu Trong and all Vietnamese people.

Hereinafter the telegram sent by the German Embassy in Hanoi translated into English.

On the occasion of Vietnam National Day

His Excellency

The President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam

Mr. Nguyen Phu Trong

Hanoi

Mister President,

I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to you and the citizens of your country on Vietnam National Day.

Vietnam and Germany are linked by diverse relationships and have also promoted our strategic partnership to become new reality .

With our two countries simultaneously being non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, when Vietnam being the chair of ASEAN and Germany as the rotating chair of the EU, Vietnam and Germany can exert ourselves together in particularly good effort to regional and multilateral solutions of global problems this year. Clearly, it can be seen especially in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, for which Vietnam deserves high recognition for its successful pandemic containment.

Moreover, Vietnam has also supported other countries, including Germany, for supplying face masks, thereby spreading a remarkable signal of solidarity in the midst of the global health crisis. I would like to express my special thanks to Your Excellency for this.

I wish You and the Vietnamese people well-being and a peaceful future.

Frank-Walter Steinmeier

President of the Federal Republic of Germany
