According to the plan, the event will be held under the spirit of “culture as the foundation - art as the medium”, with the goal of connecting nations, promoting people-to-people exchanges, and strengthening mutual understanding and trust between Vietnam and the international community. At the same time, “World Culture Day in Hanoi” seeks to enrich the spiritual and cultural life and aesthetic appreciation of local residents; contribute to building a modern cultural–entertainment ecosystem aligned with global creative economy trends; and create momentum for the development of cultural industries, tourism, employment, and domestic consumption.

The “World Culture Day in Hanoi” is scheduled to take place at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel from October 4-5, featuring 45-50 booths. Each participating country will have its own exhibition space, alongside a special “Hanoi Cultural Space” recreating distinctive traditional features of the capital. In addition, a range of concurrent programs will be held at various venues, including the Hanoi International Culinary Festival, the Hanoi International Folk Dance Festival, the Vietnamese Ao Dai Fashion Show, and the Hanoi International Book Festival.

Three additional culinary zones will showcase Hanoi’s signature cultural heritage and practices such as com (young green rice), lotus tea, and sticky rice, along with workshops and live cooking demonstrations.

Hanoi International Folk Dance Festival: Foreign artists and residents living in Hanoi will perform both traditional and contemporary folk dances in collaboration with embassies and cultural centers of various countries.

Vietnamese Ao Dai Fashion Show: Scheduled for October 4 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.

Hanoi International Book Festival: Organized as part of the 10th Hanoi Book Fair in 2025, in accordance with Plan No. 90/KH-UBND dated April 4, 2025. Taking place from October 3-5 along the Hoan Kiem pedestrian street, the event will feature an international book and publication exhibition area and host author-reader exchanges.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has assigned the Department of Culture and Sports to act as the focal agency, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, to implement the plan effectively, ensuring quality, progress, and compliance with legal regulations.

The Department of Tourism has been tasked with strengthening communication efforts aimed at both domestic and international visitors, promoting the image of the capital as a destination that is “Safe - Friendly - High-quality - Attractive.” It will also direct travel agencies and tourist sites to develop new tourism products and improve service quality.

Under the direct guidance of the Hanoi People’s Committee, the first “World Culture Day in Hanoi” is expected to become a highlight of the city’s cultural diplomacy, contributing to enhancing Hanoi’s position and prestige on the international stage.
