Havana Welcomes Ho Chi Minh City Investors

At the meeting,Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen affirmed that the relationship between Vietnam and Cuba is a friendly relationship in the spirit of revolutionary ideals, which has been constantly cultivated, consolidated, and overcome many difficulties to build a day-to-day relationship. Accordingly, HCMC, as the economic locomotive of the country, is always ready to coordinate and expand investment cooperation with Cuban localities.

In response, Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar emphasized that the Vietnam - Cuba relationship is fraternal and sincere thanks to many generations of the two peoples. Vietnam - Cuba people-to-people relationship parallels the relationship between the two Parties. He also thanked HCMC for always being ready to help when Cuba was in the most difficult time.

The Secretary of the Havana Party Committee said that Cuba has many cooperation projects and always gives priority to Vietnam. For example, Vietnam is Cuba's second largest trading partner, Asia's largest investor and the only partner authorized to develop a large industrial park in Cuba.

Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar affirmed that he always welcomes Vietnam in general and HCMC in particular to invest in all fields in Cuba. The island nation highly appreciates and pays special attention to food production and aquaculture projects, as well as advanced technology projects.

In particular La Habana is looking forward to cooperating with HCMC in high-tech agriculture. For tourism, education, economy and healthcare, two cities can exchange knowledge and experiences to effectively support each other.

Party Secretary Nguyen Van Nen said that HCMC agreed with such proposals, especially welcomes Cuba to continue investing in public health and in agriculture. He highlighted that high-tech industry is one of HCMC's strong sector, as well as tourism.
