The event was attended by Mexican Ambassador to Vietnam Alejandro Negrín Muñoz; Javier Serrano Áviles, Coordinator of the Cervantes Institute in Hanoi; Vice Rector Nguyen Tien Dung; faculty leaders, staff, lecturers, and students from the Department of Spanish. Día de Muertos, the Day of the Dead, is a vibrant Mexican holiday traditionally observed on the first two days of November each year. In 2008, UNESCO recognized this festival as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This celebration, honoring those who have passed, originated from an ancient pre-Hispanic ritual blended with the pre-Columbian traditions of ancient Mexican civilizations. It incorporates Catholic traditions, a cultural convergence between Spain and the Americas. This cultural expression reflects the ethnic, cultural, and linguistic diversity of Mexico. |
