Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen on September 27 hosted a reception for Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, during which the two sides discussed measures to strengthen ties, VNA reported Tuesday.

Welcoming Singh’s visit to HCM City as the two countries are celebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Nen expressed his delight at the results of their bilateral ties in recent years.

He spoke highly of India’s support for Vietnam, including HCM City, to fight Covid-19, demonstrating the long-standing solidarity between the people of the two nations, particularly during a time of hardship.

Nen also extended congratulations on the success of the Horasis India Meeting 2022 held in neighboring Binh Duong province from September 25 – 26.

There is plenty of room for Vietnam and India, as well as HCM City and its Indian partners, to beef up cooperation, he emphasized, proposing the two sides step up partnership in areas of mutual interest and strength, including trade, investment, information technology, culture, education and training, and agriculture.

Thanking Nen for his reception, Singh said Vietnam remains one of the important pillars in India’s Look East Policy and regional foreign policies. India wishes to take bilateral ties with Vietnam to a new height, bringing practical benefits to the people of both countries.

He expressed his hope to work with Vietnam, particularly HCM City, to foster economic cooperation and fully capitalize on advantages to improve partnerships among small- and medium-sized enterprises and those involved in healthcare, education, smart city development, and green energy.

The Indian official also asked for Vietnam’s continued support at multilateral forums and urged authorities of Vietnam and HCM City to create favorable conditions for Indian enterprises and communities.

Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh underscored that Horasis India Meeting has become an important economic forum for Indian business leaders and their global counterparts to discuss on a wide range of sectors and emerging business opportunities.

Earlier, Vietnam was praised as a hub for Indian investors to expand their business into other parts of Asia during the 2022 Horasis India Meeting, the foremost annual meeting of Indian business leaders and their global counterparts that convened on September 26 in the southern province of Binh Duong.

Founded in 1895, the Confederation is India’s leading business association, with around 9,000 members.

Horasis - a global visions community committed to inspiring the future - provides a unique platform for companies from emerging and developed markets to globalize their organizations. In addition to the Horasis India Meeting, Horasis also hosts the annual Horasis Global Meeting, the Horasis USA Meeting, the Horasis China Meeting, the Horasis Asia Meeting, and the annual gatherings of the Horasis Visionary Circle.

The 2022 Horasis India Meeting continued on from the success of the Horasis Binh Duong Asia Economic Cooperation Forum 2018 and 2019.

With the theme “Dynamic Vietnam - Its New Vision”, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, Minister Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, leaders of Horasis, and delegates from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Vietnamese ministries and localities.

The meeting comprised six plenary sessions and 26 discussion sessions, with 700 delegates debating issues of common concern such as global transition, economic development issues arising from the digital transformation process, artificial intelligence, and smart energy.

On this occasion, the Becamex Corporation and the Confederation of Indian Industry signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in innovation and sustainable development.

On the sidelines of the Horaris India Meeting, Indian Minister of State for External Affairs and Education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh met Deputy Prime Minister Vu Dam on September 26. During the meeting, they discussed a wide range of bilateral issues and regional and international developments of mutual interest.

In related news, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in HCM City Truong Minh Tuoc Nguyen on September 26 hosted a reception for a delegation of the Indian National Cadet Corps led by its Director General, Major General Rajesh Negi.

The visit contributes to fostering the traditional friendship between the two countries in general and increases their youth cooperation in particular.

The two sides discussed and agreed on the necessity to continue exchange activities and visits and to create opportunities for young people of the two countries to share experiences, contributing to strengthening the growing friendship between the two countries in general and their youth in particular.

Besides cultural exchange activities, the youth of the two countries will have more cooperative activities such as creative start-ups, information technology, digital transformation, and medical development.
