Associated Press (AP) and The Economic Times assessed that the 14th Congress set long-term development goals, including an average gross domestic product (GDP) growth target of around 10% for the 2026-2030 period and the aspiration to become a high-income economy by 2045. AP noted that these goals reflect Vietnam’s strong development ambitions.
From an economic perspective, international public opinion has shown particular interest in Vietnam’s orientation toward transforming its growth model. Kyodo News Agency (Japan) highly appreciated the leadership of General Secretary To Lam in recent years, during which the Vietnamese Government significantly streamlined the public sector and “redrew administrative boundaries” to accelerate decision-making processes and unblock a series of major infrastructure projects.
According to AFP, the re-election of General Secretary To Lam as General Secretary of the 14th Central Committee demonstrates the Communist Party of Vietnam’s support for the growth-promotion and reform orientation that has been set out. AFP observed that during his tenure as General Secretary of the 13th Central Committee, General Secretary To Lam promoted numerous reforms aimed at enhancing governance and administration efficiency, which were described as comprehensive and far-reaching.

The South China Morning Post quoted General Secretary To Lam’s speech at the 14th Congress, in which he affirmed the continued commitment to maintaining unity and solidarity within the Party, while also emphasizing the substantial workload facing the new term. The newspaper noted that his re-election sends a positive signal of political stability, a factor that foreign investors consider one of Vietnam’s key advantages.
In addition to economic development goals, international media opinion has also paid close attention to the fact that the 14th Congress continues to place the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and negative practices at the core of its agenda.
Qatar’s Al Jazeera quoted General Secretary To Lam’s remarks at the 14th Congress, highlighting his determination to intensify anti-corruption efforts, viewing this as a consistent requirement to strengthen Party discipline and order, as well as the effectiveness of state governance.
