Presenting the 2025 activity report, Nguyen Duy Anh, Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Secretary-General of the Global Network for Teaching Vietnamese Language and Culture, stated that one of the Network’s key priorities over the past year was organizing professional training and capacity-building courses on Vietnamese language teaching for teachers and volunteers in overseas Vietnamese communities.

According to Nguyen Duy Anh, the training courses were conducted both in person and online, focusing on methodologies for teaching Vietnamese to bilingual children, designing lessons integrated with Vietnamese culture, and sharing practical experience in organizing classes suited to local conditions in each country. “These training courses not only enhance teachers’ professional capacity but also create consistency in orientation and teaching methods across the entire network,” he emphasized.

It was precisely from the practical experience of these training programs that the need for teaching materials tailored to overseas Vietnamese children became clearly defined, forming an important foundation for the compilation of the Fun Learning Vietnamese book series.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Professor Nguyen Minh Thuyet said that Fun Learning Vietnamese was developed with a learner-centered approach, viewing Vietnamese not merely as a subject but as a cultural space where overseas Vietnamese children can access, experience, and build a lasting connection.

“The book series aims to help children learn Vietnamese naturally and without pressure, through familiar and engaging activities closely linked to daily life and Vietnamese culture,” shared Professor Nguyen Minh Thuyet, Advisor to the Network.

According to the editorial board, the book series is the result of a continuous process of research, piloting, and refinement, based on feedback from teachers participating in the training courses and practical teaching experiences in many countries. The lessons go beyond vocabulary and grammar, incorporating cultural elements and traditions to gradually nurture children’s love for the Vietnamese language and their awareness of their national roots.

Support from the Vietnam Fatherland Front and the Vietnamese Language Ambassador Network

Speaking at the event, Bui Diem Huong, Deputy Head of the Department for People-to-People Diplomacy under the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, highly appreciated the Network’s efforts to connect communities and build an ecosystem for Vietnamese language teaching abroad. She noted that organizing training courses and launching the Fun Learning Vietnamese textbook series are practical steps toward realizing the Party and State’s policy of caring for overseas Vietnamese communities, especially the younger generation.

From the perspective of the overseas Vietnamese community, Nguyen Thi Lien, a Vietnamese Language Ambassador and Deputy Secretary-General of the Network from Malaysia, shared that the book series and training courses have provided grassroots teachers with clearer guidance and more effective teaching tools.

“This is not only a teaching material, but also a source of moral encouragement for those who are quietly preserving the Vietnamese language far from the homeland,” Nguyen Thi Lien said.
