Ready to Take Necessary Measures to Ensure Safety of Vietnamese Citizens in Middle East

According to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), in response to heightened regional security tensions related to the conflict and military activities that began on the morning of February 28, the Embassy of Vietnam in Qatar advised Vietnamese citizens residing, studying and working in Qatar to remain vigilant, proactively take personal safety measures, closely monitor official information released by Qatari authorities, and follow further announcements from the Embassy.

In its urgent notice, the Embassy recommended that citizens limit non-essential travel, especially to crowded areas, sensitive events, areas surrounding diplomatic missions, military bases, key facilities, and major commercial centers during periods of alert.
The Embassy also urged citizens to be prepared to “shelter in place” if necessary; identify a safe location; stock essential supplies (drinking water, dry food, personal medications, backup batteries, flashlights, etc.); closely follow updates from Qatari authorities (including the Ministry of Interior and local security forces), official media outlets, and the Embassy’s communication channels; promptly notify the Embassy of any change of residence or departure from their current place of stay; check and retain copies of personal identification documents; and record emergency contact information for employers/sponsors and family members.
The Embassy further emphasized that should Qatari authorities issue “shelter-in-place” guidance or travel restrictions, Vietnamese citizens must strictly comply and refrain from going outside until further notice. In cases requiring emergency protection or assistance, Vietnamese citizens residing, studying and working in Qatar are advised to contact the Embassy via the citizen protection hotline at +974 77088920 or by email at [email protected].
On the same day, the Embassy of Vietnam in the UAE issued a notice advising Vietnamese citizens residing, studying and working in the UAE, particularly in the capital Abu Dhabi, to proactively take safety measures and closely follow official information from UAE authorities as well as further announcements from the Embassy.
The Embassy’s urgent notice recommended limiting non-essential travel during periods of alert; preparing self-protection plans at safe locations at home or the workplace when necessary; closely monitoring information from UAE authorities (including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), official media outlets, and the Embassy’s communication channels; keeping communication devices operational at all times; carefully checking and safeguarding personal documents (passports, residence cards, labor contracts, insurance documents, etc.); and recording emergency contact details of employers/sponsors and family members.
Should UAE authorities issue safety guidance or travel restrictions, the Embassy urged citizens to strictly comply until further notice.
In cases requiring urgent assistance, citizens are advised to contact the Embassy via the citizen protection hotline at +971 50 129 9789 or by email at [email protected]@gmail.com. The Embassy’s address is Villa 147, Salama Bint Butti Street (Street 23), Al Mushrif Area, Abu Dhabi, UAE. The Embassy also called on the Vietnamese community in the UAE to remain calm, proactively ensure their safety, and regularly update themselves on subsequent announcements.
The Embassy of Vietnam in Kuwait issued similar recommendations to Vietnamese citizens residing, working and studying in Kuwait.
The Embassy advised citizens to follow official Kuwaiti media channels for updates; be prepared to relocate when necessary or if evacuation is required; safeguard their personal safety and property; keep mobile phones operational and maintain communication with family and friends to inform them of their status; and follow the Embassy’s communication channels for further updates.
In cases requiring urgent assistance, citizens may contact the Embassy via the citizen protection hotlines at +965 9975 8155 or +965 2531 1450.
In light of the increasingly complex security situation in several Middle Eastern countries, the Embassy of Vietnam in Saudi Arabia advised all Vietnamese citizens residing, studying and working in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain and Yemen to take the following measures: avoid areas sensitive to security concerns, particularly crowded locations; regularly monitor and update information through official and reliable channels; always carry identification documents, passports, visas and other important papers; keep electronic copies for use when necessary; and maintain regular communication with family members, colleagues and friends in their area of residence to provide timely mutual assistance in emergency situations.
In addition, the Embassy urged citizens to strictly comply with local laws and regulations as well as guidance issued by host-country authorities; limit non-essential travel; and proactively prepare contingency plans to ensure the safety of themselves and their families. In emergency situations, citizens are advised to immediately contact the Embassy of Vietnam in Saudi Arabia for timely assistance via the following telephone numbers: +966114547887 / +966 595731500, or email: [email protected].
Earlier the same day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant domestic agencies instructed Vietnamese representative missions in Iran and Israel to closely coordinate with competent authorities at home, Vietnamese missions in neighboring areas, and relevant local authorities and diplomatic missions to closely monitor developments and stand ready to take necessary measures to ensure the safety of Vietnamese citizens and the headquarters of Vietnamese representative offices. According to the latest information from the Vietnamese missions in Israel and Iran, Vietnamese citizens in these areas are currently safe.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises Vietnamese citizens not to travel to Iran and Israel at this time and to avoid areas adjacent to conflict zones unless absolutely necessary. Vietnamese citizens currently in Iran, Israel, and neighboring areas affected by the conflict are urged to maintain contact, regularly follow updates from Vietnamese representative missions in Iran and Israel, and strictly comply with host-country regulations regarding travel as well as advisories issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

| On February 28, responding to a reporter’s question regarding Vietnam’s reaction to the escalating tensions in the Middle East, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Thu Hang emphasized: “Vietnam is deeply concerned about the increasingly complex escalation of conflict in the Middle East, which poses a serious threat to the lives and safety of civilians, as well as to peace and stability in the region and the world.
