Overseas Vietnamese students in Japan, France and Germany eagerly welcome Lunar New Year
Vietnamese Student Associations around the world are busy preparing programs and unique repertoires to welcome the traditional Lunar New Year Festival (Tet) of the nation.
Overseas Vietnamese students in Kyoto, Japan
The Vietnamese Student Association in Kyoto, Japan, is eagerly preparing for major events to take place on February 6th (Lunar December 28th). This will be a party not only for Vietnamese students, but also for Vietnamese people and foreign friends who live far away from home.
To contribute to make a lively and attractive program, the organizers encourage students to participate in a Vietnamese cuisine competition. Besides, art performance and exchange is an indispensable part of the party to welcome the Lunar New Year in Kyoto.
Overseas Vietnamese in Fukuoka will also organize a competition on making “Chung” cake, introducing Vietnam’s culture with an art exchange on February 7th.
Overseas Vietnamese students in Rennes, France
To prepare to welcome Tet, Vietnamese students in the city of Rennes (France) will take group photographs in traditional long dresses at famous sites in the city such as Place de Champs Jacquet, Parlement de Bretagne and City Hall to display on February 6th on the occasion of Tet.
This is one of the annual activities for Tet of Vietnamese students in France. In spite of cold weather, the students are all eager to participate in the activity.
Deputy Head of the Vietnamese Student Association in France cum Head of the Vietnamese Student Association in Rennes (SVREN) Nguyen Phan Bao Thuy said the appearance of the traditional long dresses in the streets of Rennes drew the attention of many local residents. This is also an opportunity for overseas Vietnamese students to promote Vietnam’s culture to international friends.
In addition, the SVREN will also organize two photo contests named “A glimpse of Vietnam in Rennes” and “Cute couple” and cosy dinners for students.
Overseas Vietnamese students in Germany
With the desire of bringing the traditional atmosphere of Vietnam’s Tet to overseas Vietnamese students in Berlin and its surrounding areas, the Vietnamese Student Association in Berlin - Potsdam is preparing a special event named Berliner Tet 2016.
Head of the Vietnamese Student Association in Berlin - Potsdam Nguyen Mai Son said that this year, a program to welcome Tet will be organize widely with large scale across Germany, with the participation of hundreds of students.
Besides music and cuisine, students will enjoy special performance items, and a comedy about the Kitchen Gods directed and performed by students.
"I hope the students will have good memories in Germany when they have to welcome Tet far from home. The program will create conditions for them to exchange," Son said./.
