On behalf of the Embassy of Vietnam in Malaysia, Nguyen Ba Tan, First Secretary in charge of community affairs, emphasized the enduring value of the Worship of the Hung Kings - an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. He affirmed that the ceremony contributes to educating younger generations, especially the second and third generations, helping them better understand their historical roots, remain oriented toward their homeland, and strengthen solidarity within the Vietnamese community in Malaysia. He also expressed his hope that the community would continue to unite, comply with local laws, and actively contribute to enhancing the standing of Vietnamese people in Malaysian society.
Representing the younger generation born and raised in Malaysia, Noor Linh Soraya Binti Buang (Bao Tran), a student of the Vietnamese Language Club, expressed her emotion at participating in a ceremony that connects her to her roots. She proudly shared: “For us, learning Vietnamese is not merely about acquiring a language, but also a journey to rediscover our roots, a way to better understand our family and our nation, and to proudly say: ‘I am Vietnamese.’” The young representative in Malaysia affirmed their commitment to preserving the Vietnamese language and cultural values so that national identity will continue to be maintained and developed in the future.
Following the solemn incense-offering ritual and prayers, the ceremony became more vibrant with a cultural performance program imbued with the spirit of the homeland. Performances such as the dance “Heroic Spirit of Vietnam,” group songs “Let the Drums Resound!” and “As If Uncle Ho Were With Us on the Great Victory Day” evoked deep national pride among the audience.
The program concluded with a culinary gathering featuring traditional dishes, creating a warm space for exchange, helping overseas Vietnamese feel more connected and easing their homesickness on this occasion of turning toward their ancestral land.
