Vietnam is currently one of the largest foreign communities in Japan. According to data from Japan’s Ministry of Justice, as of the end of 2025, approximately 520,000-530,000 Vietnamese nationals are living, studying, and working in the country, ranking among the largest foreign populations.

The Vietnamese community lives across many localities, with concentrations in major economic hubs such as Tokyo, Aichi, Osaka, and Saitama. It mainly comprises technical interns, workers, students, and long-term residents. This community has made positive contributions to local socio-economic development while also serving as an important bridge in promoting Vietnam-Japan friendship.
