At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Ngo Trinh Ha said that Annamnikaya (Vietnam Buddhist branch) is one of only two foreign Buddhist branches in Thailand.

The introduction and development of the Vietnamese Buddhist branch, Vietnamese temples in Thailand, spiritual activities, and worship according to Vietnamese traditions of overseas Vietnamese here play an important role in preserving the national cultural identity in the Thai expatriate community.

They are also a bridge connecting Vietnam-Thailand friendship, connecting overseas Vietnamese and people in the country.

About 200 years ago, along with the appearance of the Vietnamese community in Thailand, a number of Vietnamese temples were also built. Up to now, there are about 20 temples of Vietnamese origin in Thailand.

Annamnikaya has always been spiritual support of Vietnamese people, who migrated here to do business and live for different reasons. Despite the ups and downs of history, the Vietnam Buddhist branch in Thailand has remained strong, becoming a respected branch in the Buddhist community in Thailand.

According to Most Venerable Thich Thien Khai, Tam Bao Pagoda was built in 2449 of the Buddhist calendar (year 1906), during the reign of King Rama V. Up to now, it has been 116 years.

"The temple has many features of Chinese Buddhism but developed according to the Vietnam Buddhism branch. Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese people come to worship at this temple, showing the encompassing beauty of Buddhism. Everyone, regardless of country, can share the same religious beliefs. I am Thai and am the abbot of this temple," said Most Venerable Thich Thien Khai.

Currently, Thailand is also the country with the most temples performing rituals in the Vietnamese Buddhist tradition abroad. The overseas Vietnamese community in Thailand is always proud of the nation's thousands of years of good culture and traditions, in which the image of the homeland and the temple is indispensable in daily life.

For the Vietnamese community in Thailand, Vietnamese pagodas are both cultural and religious places. They have the role of connecting the community, preserving, and maintaining the Vietnamese cultural identity in Thailand. They also educate the young generation about the cultural beauties of the nation.
