On behalf of the Vietnamese Embassy and the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working in India, Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Hai expressed his joy and pride in welcoming Party General Secretary and State President To Lam and the high-level delegation of the Party and State on their visit.

The Ambassador noted that the Vietnamese community in India consists of more than 1,200 people who are united, closely connected, and respected by local authorities and people. Community members comply well with local laws, preserve the positive image of Vietnamese people, and always look toward their homeland while maintaining the Vietnamese language and national cultural identity. They actively support one another and assist compatriots in Vietnam during times of natural disasters and hardship. In 2024, the Vietnamese Association in India was established. The community is proud of Vietnam’s increasingly elevated international standing and the country’s strong recent reforms.

The Vietnamese Embassy in India and the overseas Vietnamese community expressed confidence that the visit by Party General Secretary and State President Tô Lâm and the high-level delegation would open a new stage of development, making the Vietnam–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership stronger, deeper, and more substantive.

Addressing the gathering, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam commended the embassy, representative agencies, and the Vietnamese community for their coordination in organizing the high-level Vietnamese delegation’s visit to India in a thoughtful manner with many practical activities, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and dedication to the Party and State’s external affairs mission. The Party General Secretary and State President emphasized that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and that the visit contributes to further strengthening bilateral ties and enriching and deepening exchanges and cooperation across various fields.

The Party General Secretary and State President expressed pleasure at learning that the Vietnamese community in India has become increasingly mature, united, and well integrated, making many practical contributions to bilateral relations. Vietnamese intellectuals, students, and Buddhist monks and nuns studying at Buddhist institutions in India are receiving education in a favorable academic environment, gaining access to advanced knowledge and fields in which India has strengths. The growing relationship between the community and local authorities and people also reflects the strong ties between the two countries.

Sharing updates on the country’s situation, especially its development goals and future vision, the Party General Secretary and State President stated that the Party and State are making vigorous and synchronized efforts to implement solutions focused on ensuring three important objectives: maintaining political stability; promoting socio-economic development and improving all aspects of people’s lives; and continuing to perfect institutions and renew the growth model, with science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation serving as central drivers while strongly promoting human resources.

Regarding Vietnam-India cooperation, a long-standing traditional friendship built on a foundation of high political trust, the Party General Secretary and State President stressed that this visit carries great significance in continuing to implement the Party’s foreign policy following the 14th National Party Congress, affirming Vietnam’s high regard and priority for relations with India. During the visit, the delegation will conduct numerous diverse and practical activities aimed at deepening political trust, expanding substantive cooperation, and creating new momentum for bilateral relations.

At present, the potential of each country and the high complementarity between the two economies demonstrate broad opportunities for cooperation. The two countries also share many cultural similarities, which serve as an important foundation for promoting people-to-people exchanges, enhancing mutual understanding, expanding cooperation, and maximizing each side’s potential and advantages.

Regarding the embassy’s work, the Party General Secretary and State President acknowledged and commended embassy officials and staff for successfully fulfilling their duties and continuously supporting the Vietnamese community. He requested that the embassy continue to play its role as a reliable support for the community. Vietnamese intellectuals and students in India were encouraged to continue striving in their studies and research, proactively connect with counterparts in Vietnam, participate in knowledge networks, transfer technology, and propose initiatives contributing to national development. Businesses, workers, and the broader community were urged to continue promoting dynamism and creativity, make the most of economic cooperation opportunities between the two countries, and contribute to connecting markets and advancing trade, investment, and supply chains.

The Party General Secretary and State President affirmed that every Vietnamese citizen in India serves as a “people’s ambassador,” helping spread the image of Vietnam and its people. He expressed hope that the community would continue preserving national cultural identity, maintaining the Vietnamese language, nurturing love for the homeland among younger generations, while actively integrating into local society and respecting local laws and culture.

The Vietnamese Embassy and representative agencies in India were encouraged to uphold the spirit of solidarity, responsibility, innovation, and creativity; effectively implement the Party’s foreign policy; further deepen Vietnam-India relations; better care for community affairs; strengthen connections between overseas Vietnamese and the homeland; and contribute to fostering the increasingly strong and developing friendship between Vietnam and India.
