On October 21, digital travel platform Agoda reported a 59% rise in accommodation searches in Vietnam from Eastern European markets. This growth reflects the positive impact of relaxed visa policies, which have made Vietnam more accessible to European visitors.

The new visa exemption policy for citizens of 12 European countries took effect on August 15. According to Agoda’s data, interest from Eastern European travelers has been particularly strong, with search volumes rising by 77% from Slovenia, 74% from Poland, 72% from Bulgaria, 69% from Romania, and 61% from Slovakia.

The data was compiled from searches conducted on Agoda between August 15 and September 30 for stays scheduled from October to November and compared to the same period of the previous year.

Vu Ngoc Lam, Agoda’s Country Director for Vietnam, commented: “The data clearly shows that simplifying entry procedures and improving accessibility have contributed to the rise in visitors from Europe and other long-haul markets to Vietnam.”

Eastern European travelers are showing increasingly diverse interests in exploring Vietnam, with five standout destinations attracting the most attention. Leading the list is Phu Quoc Island, with an impressive 113% year-on-year surge in searches. Following the tropical island are the bustling metropolises of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, ranked second and third, with increases of 77% and 56% respectively. Rounding out the top five destinations for Eastern European tourists are the coastal cities of Da Nang and Nha Trang, which saw search increases of 36% and 35%.

Agoda’s recorded figures align closely with data from Vietnam’s General Statistics Office (GSO), which shows that the number of visitors from Europe increased by nearly 35% during the first nine months of 2025. In the third quarter alone, Vietnam welcomed 568,370 European tourists - a 38% rise from the previous quarter and a significant 60% increase compared to the same period last year.
