With only a few weeks left before the new school year begins, many children in Muong Than commune are still struggling with the aftermath of recent floods. At Phuc Than Kindergarten, the disaster destroyed four classrooms and a kitchen, swept away a warehouse of teaching materials, and caused nearly 600 meters of fencing to collapse.

Meanwhile, many students at Phuc Than Primary School have lost their books, school supplies, and essential items, directly affecting their preparations for the new academic year.
According to Pham Van Bong, Deputy Principal of Phuc Than Primary School, after the flood, many students no longer have books and school supplies. The school is deeply concerned about ensuring that students can return on schedule and in safe conditions.
In response, Plan International Vietnam is implementing an emergency support package worth VND 350 million. This package will provide school supplies for students at Phuc Than Primary School and support the restoration of facilities and learning conditions at Phuc Than Kindergarten, helping teachers and students quickly stabilize teaching and learning activities.
Additionally, Plan International Vietnam is calling on businesses, sponsors, and development partners to join hands in supporting Muong Than commune in particular, and Lai Chau province in general, to overcome the consequences of the disaster. The goal is to ensure that all children, especially girls and vulnerable groups, can return to school safely.
