The significance of the event was further heightened by its timing - marking the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-Hungary diplomatic relations and the 35th anniversary of Vietnam-European Union diplomatic ties.

According to a report from VNA's correspondent in Budapest, as the digital revolution unfolds rapidly across the globe, Vietnam is also undergoing meaningful technological development. For the Vietnamese diaspora, especially Vietnamese women who are both guardians of cultural identity and active participants in integration, adapting to technological advancements is no longer optional - it is essential.
Unlike the first forum held on June 3, 2023, this year's event broadened its scope to include not only women but also men, entrepreneurs, and intellectuals. The forum served as an opportunity for attendees to meet, exchange ideas, share experiences, and support one another in the journey of elevating Vietnam’s global presence.
In her welcome speech, Márta Mátrai, First Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, emphasized that in modern society, women play a dual role: maintaining family values while remaining connected to broader social engagement. She noted that although studies show women tend to be slower in adopting AI, they are not passive users—they are active shapers. She highlighted that AI will be a decisive force in shaping knowledge, social development, and justice.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Phan Thi Bich Thien, head of the organizing committee, stated: "In Vietnam’s current revolution, this era of reaching new heights, positioning Vietnamese values - making our mark on the world map - is of utmost importance. But we cannot do it alone. This forum focuses on the power of connection in defining Vietnamese values. If six million Vietnamese people around the world can connect, we can harness the potential of the global Vietnamese community to create collective strength. That will make positioning Vietnamese values in various sectors far more effective. In this era of technology, we cannot follow old paths - we must be innovative and use technology to shape Vietnam’s value proposition."
Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary Bui Le Thai affirmed that the theme “Positioning Vietnamese Values Abroad in the Digital and AI Era” is especially meaningful as AI continues to reshape the world daily. He stressed that Vietnamese people abroad must assert their unique identity, through language and culture, so that they can integrate without losing themselves. In this process, Vietnamese women abroad play a key role as cultural ambassadors.
This is the second time the Vietnam Women’s Forum in Europe has held the event at the seat of the host country’s highest legislative body. In addition to speeches by Deputy Speaker Márta Mátrai, Forum Chairwoman Phan Bich Thien, and Ambassador Bui Le Thai, women representatives from various European countries, businesses, and educational institutions also presented papers on the role of women in the digital era.
The Vietnam Women’s Forum in Europe was formally established after the first forum and is legally registered with its headquarters in Hungary. It currently comprises members from 18 European countries, with a 62-member executive board chaired by Dr. Phan Bich Thien. Since its inception nearly two years ago, the forum has carried out many meaningful activities to foster solidarity and promote the Vietnamese women’s movement in Europe while building connections with domestic organizations and advancing international integration.
