On September 9th, to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and China (1950-2026) and the Viet Nam-China Tourism Cooperation Year 2026-2027, the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace Historical Site, in coordination with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Kunming, organized a series of activities to honor President Ho Chi Minh, showcase his activities in China, and spread friendship between the people of the two countries.

According to information from the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace Historical Site, the main activity is the thematic exhibition “President Ho Chi Minh with China - A Journey of Friendship, Aspiration for Peace and Development,” showcasing more than 100 documents, materials, and images.

Notably, the exhibition also features images and documents about the State visit to China by General Secretary and President To Lam from April 14-17, 2026, thereby connecting historical values ​​with the current realities of bilateral relations.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace Historical Site Nguyen Van Duong said that China was one of the places that left a deep imprint on President Ho Chi Minh's revolutionary life. From 1924, Ho Chi Minh had many activities in China such as gathering forces, training cadres, spreading revolutionary ideology, and preparing for the Vietnamese revolutionary cause.

In particular, during his time in Kunming and several other locations in Yunnan province, President Ho Chi Minh established a base, met with revolutionaries in Viet Nam, contacted progressive forces, and garnered support from international friends before returning to his homeland to directly lead the Vietnamese revolution.

Nguyen Van Duong noted that the records of President Ho Chi Minh's activities in China, especially in Kunming and Yunnan, are not only valuable historical evidence but also places that connect historical memory with friendship between the two peoples.

The Vietnamese Consul General in Kunming, Nghiem Viet Chung, stated that Yunnan and Kunming hold a special place in Viet Nam - China relations, due to their geographical proximity, historical ties, and people-to-people exchanges. Organizing the exhibition in Kunming not only contributes to preserving and promoting the heritage of President Ho Chi Minh but also serves as a cultural diplomacy activity, bringing history closer to the public, especially the younger generations of both countries.

Besides the exhibition, the organizers also met with and paid tribute to overseas Vietnamese witnesses who had met President Ho Chi Minh and recorded their accounts, collected documentary photos and artifacts related to him in Kunming and Yunnan province.

On this occasion, Chairman of the Association of Vietnamese People in Yunnan Pham Gia Duc shared a number of documentary photographs of President Ho Chi Minh in China with the Ho Chi Minh Presidential Palace Historical Site.

The organizers also introduced and presented delegates, overseas Vietnamese, and students in Yunnan with a number of publications, books, and photographs about the life, career, thoughts, ethics, and style of President Ho Chi Minh, as well as his foreign relations activities.

According to VNA, visitor Ma Zhihang (China) said he was moved when he saw images and documents about President Ho Chi Minh. He believes that President Ho Chi Minh, along with Chairman Mao Zedong, contributed to building a bridge of friendship between Viet Nam and China, creating a foundation for the affection between the people of the two countries to continue through generations.

For Vietnamese students studying in Yunnan, the exhibition also provided an opportunity to learn more about President Ho Chi Minh's activities in China. Visitor Nguyen Thi Thu Trang (Viet Nam), currently a student at Yunnan Nationalities University, shared that the exhibition helped the younger generation better understand the friendship and close ties between the people of the two countries throughout history, and to better recognize their responsibility in preserving and continuing that tradition.

The series of activities in Kunming contributes to supplementing, preserving, and promoting materials about President Ho Chi Minh, while strengthening cultural exchange, understanding, and close ties between the people of Viet Nam and China.
